How a team is formed

In general, each team goes through the 4 phases :
- shaping
- storming,
- standardization,
- performing.

In the first phase, the members of a team get to know each other. They check what everyone can do and what goals they are pursuing. After that it gets stormy . It's about the distribution of tasks and the position in the team. This phase is characterized by rank battles.

During norming , the team members work out concrete plans for the collaboration. You determine areas of responsibility and define goals. The first results of the teamwork can be expected in the performing phase. The tasks are distributed and you have learned to trust each other.

Events to strengthen a team should take place in the first and third phase . In the fourth phase everything runs like clockwork, here it makes sense to treat the team to a trip as a reward after completing a task. An event in the second stage is of concern as it could increase conflict and break the team apart.

Events for the first phase - "Forming"

There's a motley bunch here. Team members often need name tags to identify themselves. Send the team on an outdoor trip. Here you learn to rely on each other and have time to get to know each other independently of work.

Events with overnight stays in a self-catering hut, on a houseboat or canoe tours are ideal. The team should be challenged but not put under stress by being overwhelmed. Survival training is counterproductive in this phase.

It is important to relax together after the team has mastered the upcoming challenges. Therefore, the overnight stay is indispensable. This gives team members a chance to calmly discuss the day's events.

Events for the third phase - "Norming"

Events are available here in which the participants have to find solutions together in the manner of a scavenger hunt in order to achieve a goal. After all, that is precisely the task of the team – working out solutions together.

Think crime dinners, geocaching, rafting, climbing in the climbing garden or light survival training. Let the team decide which event suits them. Decision making is the first result of teamwork.

Imaginative rewards strengthen team spirit - "Performing"

The events in the fourth phase should focus on having fun together . Tractor driving on the Alm, a drum workshop, off-road driving, curling or driver safety training are all possible. The main thing - the team has fun and is happy with the reward.
